Darlene Rempel

C. Ped (C), C. Ped Tech (C) , BHK

Certified Canadian Pedorthist and Pedorthic Technician

As a high school athlete, Darlene enjoyed a variety of sporting endeavours, including soccer, softball and tennis. However her true passion grew in track and field and volleyball. As a sprinter and jumper, Darlene achieved a top 10 ranking in Regionals for OFSAA in triple jump and long jump. Darlene received the award for most valuable player in her years on the senior volleyball team and assisted her high school volleyball team in advancing to Ontario Provincials two years in a row with a proud bronze metal finish.

Darlene graduated from the University of Windsor with a Bachelors in Human Kinetics with a major in movement science while playing on the women's varsity volleyball team.

She began her career as an exercise and rehabilitation therapist/kinesiologist in a physiotherapy clinic for five years, but was “swooped away” to the world of Pedorthics when she was introduced to the amazing results that were realized by the use of custom foot orthotics. A Pedothist who came on-site to the clinic demonstrated significant results with only the use of manipulating lower body mechanics using orthotics.

Darlene has been a Certified Pedorthist for over eleven years now and founded the company Foot by Foot, providing comprehensive lower limb exams and dispensing custom-made foot orthotics to patients in the tri-cities and surrounding areas.

Darlene is involved with the advancement of Pedorthics by authoring a chapter in the Clinical Guidelines Textbook by the Pedorthic Association of Canada, and currently volunteers on the Communications Committee contributing to several articles a year in the pedorthic journal, Pedorthics Quarterly. She has also volunteered her time with the Professional Development Committee in previous years.

Over the last couple decades, Darlene has continued to play competitively and semi-competitively in both the Co-ed and Women's volleyball leagues. She has enjoyed many recreational activities including mountain biking, ultimate frisbee, tennis, skiing and beach volleyball. Her young active family takes up much of her free time, but they enjoy camping, canoeing, hiking and biking together.
