Mairin Viol  B.A., RMT
Mairin Viol was born in Hong Kong and raised overseas, and in the U.S., moving to Canada to receive her undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1983, certified dental assistant in 1990 and preventive dental assistant in 1993. After 20 years focused in management in the health care field (Practice Manager at Coronation Dental Specialty Group, then Manager of Client Services at Community Care Access Centre in Guelph), Mairin returned

to school full time to become a registered massage therapist. Mairin specialized in sports and geriatrics/palliative care and is also a certified personal trainer. As a former member of the Cambridge Harriers, Mairin has been a competitive runner, running 5k to- marathon distances and is a clinic leader for the 10k running clinic at Running Works, Guelph.  Mairin is also an avid rower with the Cambridge Rowing Club, competing in open, lightweight and Masters categories in single and double in Canada and the U.S. She has also raced at the World Master Regattas in Belgium and Montreal.   

Mairin has been a volunteer since 1998 with Kindness in Action/Missionary Ventures in Nicaragua and Guatemala on the Dental Medical Team. She is an original and current member of the Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion committee, and a volunteer coach with the Special Olympics Track and Field. She has completed her National Coaching Certificate Technical and Theory Level One, Theory Level Two, Multi-Sport Introduction to Competition "A" and "B", and is certified in CPR and First Aid. She is also an Associate Umpire with Rowing Canada Aviron and a member of the Coaches Association of Ontario.  Mairin has also been an active coach and massage therapist for the National Adaptive Rowing Team.

Mairin joined the medical team for the Costal Challenge in Costa Rica in February 2007,  website, volunteered for the global medical team in Uganda, Africa, http://www.watoto.com., travelled to Montana, USA for the medical team to support team #13, Brain Attack for Primal Quest 2008, http://www.ecoprimalquest.com/wp-primal/,  and will be traveling to the Dominican Republic on a joint medical/sports team Feb. 2009 with Friends of the Orphans, (FOTO-Canada) providing support for orphans and abandoned children on behalf of Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos - "Our little brothers and sisters".   http://www.nph.org
