Manual therapy

The physiotherapists at Waterloo Sports Medicine Centre utilize manual therapy techniques to both assess and treat dysfunction. Manual therapy techniques such as mobilizations and manipulations, are used primarily to help restore movement and function.

What is manual therapy?

A manual therapy consists of skilled hands-on techniques applied to a joint complex or soft tissue. They are applied at varying speeds and amplitudes, that may include a small-amplitude/ high velocity therapeutic movement (manipulation) with the intent to restore optimal motion, function, and/ or to reduce pain.
