
Dr. Leonardo Martin Calderon, MD

Dr. Leonardo Martin Calderon is pleased to return to the Kitchener-Waterloo community in which he grew up. He completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo before completing his Medical Doctorate at the University of Ottawa. He then went on to complete his training in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at Western University. During his time in Western University he was awarded the Canadian Society of Internal Medicine Medical Education Award, and took part in leadership roles as Chief Rheumatology Resident and Resident Advisory Committee Chair. He joined the WSM team in January 2026.
Dr. Martin Calderon has a special interest in caring for patients with autoimmune and rheumatic conditions, including inflammatory arthritis (such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis) connective tissue diseases (such as lupus, inflammatory myositis, and scleroderma), crystal arthritis (Gout and CPPD), and osteoarthritis.
