What is Naturopathic medicine?

The naturopathic philosophy is to stimulate the healing power of the body in order to treat the underlying causes of disease. Symptoms of disease are seen as warning signals of improper functioning of the body and unfavourable lifestyle habits. Sports medicine naturopathy can help patients optimize health and achieve training, exercise, and competition goals. Athletes can encounter a host of health problems derived from an active lifestyle, in addition to the health problems of the general public. Low energy, mineral depletion, and anemia are common complaints among very active athletes. During your sports-focused health assessment, food intake and sports nutrition requirements will be investigated. Naturopathic dietary counselling aims to provide each athlete with the right balance of macronutrients and micronutrients required for their specific sport (Ie. Endurance running vs. power lifting). Additionally, sports-focused naturopathy provides adjunctive therapy alongside physiotherapy and massage therapy to assist athletes recovering from injuries, chronic pain or poor athletic performance.
