Karen Howieson, PT

Karen completed her undergrad Bachelor of Physical Education at Brock University in 2008. After completing a Masters of Human Kinetics degree at the University of Windsor in 2010, she starting working on physiotherapy research at Queen’s University. She returned to school and completed her Masters of Physical Therapy from Western University in 2014.

​

Karen grew up playing both soccer and hockey competitively. She played two years of varsity women’s soccer while in university, each year being named an Academic All-Canadian student-athlete. Her interest in the field of physiotherapy began from her own experiences of the rehab process after two ACL-reconstruction knee surgeries.

​

Karen has completed her Level 2 courses of Manual Therapy and plans to continue to progress through the Manual Therapy Levels System. She is also trained to perform acupuncture as part of physiotherapy treatment.

​

Karen is now a trained facilitator of FIFA 11+, a complete warm-up to prevent injury program. Any youth team under the umbrella of the Ontario Soccer Association in the Waterloo Region can contact Karen to facilitate the learning of this program.

In her free time, Karen enjoys walking local trails with her family and their dog Ruby, playing hockey, skiing, snowboarding, and learning to golf.
