Robyn Ibey, PT

MScPT, PhD, HBSc, MCPA

Robyn obtained her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto (2009), after having completed her Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Biology and Psychology from the University of Waterloo (2007). Most recently, Robyn completed her PhD in neuroscience at the University of Waterloo.

Robyn is a sports/orthopaedic physiotherapist, but also has a special interest in concussion treatment and management. She has taken many postgraduate courses in manual and manipulative therapy, acupuncture, cranial sacral therapy, and sport taping. She has volunteered her time working at many community-sporting events and was the medical trainer for the OHA Junior B Stratford Cullitons for 2 years.

Robyn has received various honours and awards for her PhD research, including NSERC (CGS) scholarship and Ireland Canada University Foundation (ICUF) Dobbin Scholarship. She is currently involved in two grants focusing on better assessment tools for concussion detection and management. She also organizes the University of Waterloo Brain Bee for high school students, held at the end of the winter term, encouraging high school students to learn about the brain and neuroscience.

Robyn loves to teach and has previously held positions at both Conestoga College in their Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant program and University of Waterloo in the Department of Kinesiology. She also holds positions on various committees including the OTA/PTA Program Advisory Committee at Conestoga College. She currently still works at University of Waterloo in the Department of Kinesiology as a lecturer and still participates in research.

Robyn loves giving back to the community and enjoys speaking and getting involved at a variety of community events and functions, as well as mentoring students at both Waterloo Sports Medicine and University of Waterloo.

Robyn keeps active in her spare time. Growing up she was a dancer and participated in volleyball and soccer. In university, she played both indoor and beach volleyball, and continues to enjoy both sports in her spare time, along with jogging and spinning.
